(A) Write and edit code in the GTM interface
(B) Pass data into third-party applications
(C) Use data to fire tags
(D) Encrypt data automatically
The Data Layer can write and edit code for defining new variables, values, etc. directly in the GTM interface. You don’t need to explicitly define these variables, the Data Layer will automatically define the variables by editing the code in GTM.
The Data Layer allows you to store and access all the third-party data in the form of a single data point. The Data layer can also pass the stored data into other third-party applications.
The Data layer stores the data about variables and values and uses this data to notify triggers to fire a tag.
